Work package 4 – Graphical User Interface

A new open-source graphical user interface (GUI) for PALM-4U aimed at users from practice in municipalities and planning offices will be developed in WP4. To ensure the GUI’s practicability, a user-co-creation approach will be followed that includes feedback of relevant stakeholders directly into the development process during every project stage. Therefore, agile software development principles are used to adapt to user requirements, which is organized in WP2.

Based on the findings from [UC]² – Phase 1 the GUI will be developed to cover the whole workflow that is necessary to create and assess PALM-4U simulations for typical users from practice: from initial processing of input data and creation of input files to defining a simulation setup and assessing the simulation results.

As PALM-4U must be included in an already existing heterogeneous software and data infrastructure, special interest will be set on software interfaces that connect PALM-4U to existing municipal infrastructure, available open data sources as well as common software tools and data formats. Existing work from [UC]² – Phase I, especially the GUI, input from Modules A and B as well as open source software tools will be used to reduce redundant software developments. The GUI and its associated components will be released to public with an open source license by the end of the project.
